Artist's Comments

here is an illustration, as it would appear as a two page spread in a magazine.

i read an article about how China has the U.S. under it's thumb. On a whim, China could turn the U.S. economy upside down. which hits close to home especially since the Saudis stopped accepting the U.S. Dollar as a currency to pay for oil reserves.

I'd say China definately played their cards right in the chess game of global economy. check and mate!

Here's an illustration thats completely digitally collaged. I enjoyed working this way, it's alot of fun and alittle more efficient than flipping through pages of magazines to find the right images.

im not sure about it though. i had a blast doing it but i can't decide if it's weaker or stronger than the other works i've done.

what do you guys think, up to par? i'm all ears for any critiques.

the typography needs to be more clear if you want people to be able to read it- its a little small for my settings even in the enlarged mode.
I like your use of the panda, the yellow stars are a bit distracting, the backdrop is great.
sure china bought up our debt but look at the trade deals they got. I personally try not to buy things produced in China cuz I'm pissed about Tibet.

i like it. that panda is adorably deadly. the only thing that bothers me is the white "fuzzy" edge around the board. it seems a bit overwhelming and it reads to me as a quick photoshop thing that was done to conceal jagged or harsh edges. I say for a piece of this nature, let those imperfections sing! I almost want it to be lower quality, rougher, more grungy perhaps? I dunno. It's nice to see some new stuff from you.

thanks man! ha ha thanks for calling me out man! your pretty spot on about the fuzzy white lines.

what would be a good tool to us to like blend two things together so they look like they have mass and that they belong in the space of a background, not like just jaggedly cutting and pasting things?

someone mentioned maybe the blur tool but you got a better technique by chance?

dude, in digital portfolio, like three people in the class (including myself) listed your website as a reference for their own. just thought you'd like to know. the legend of Gorman still lives!

i'll call you real soon!

things going well for you in berkley there?
thanks brother, i'll post it redited when it becomes redited
